A September Walk Through Our Ward
Even though I know our ward well, I recently realised I’d never really explored its exact boundaries. With the September sunshine offering one of those perfect late-summer days, I decided it was the right moment to set out on foot and have a local adventure.
I started my walk in Totley, following the path up towards Bradway. I love the beautiful views at the top of Mickley Lane. I walked through the top of Bradway before winding my way down Twentywell, turning into the woods at Abbeydale Golf club, and onto Abbeydale Road. From there, the trail took me through the beautiful Ecclesall Woods, with their dappled light and early signs of autumn, and onwards into Whirlow.
By the time I reached Whirlow Hall, I was more than ready for a break. My husband met me there, and we enjoyed a well-earned lunch at The Shelter. It was the perfect spot to rest my feet, and have a tasty lunch.
I wanted to completely the route, but with emails to answer, some blisters and school pickup, 11 km was the right time to stop. I still have one to three more walks left to complete the route. I hope I have time to do this.
It really was a fantastic way to get to know our ward better and enjoy the the beautiful area we live in.
