Thank you to the 1,135 people who placed their faith in me and put an X next to my name. It means more to me than you probably realise. Every time I saw a cross next to my name, I felt genuinely grateful and humbled. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so happy to come 4th.

Given the national picture, I was predicted to receive around 496 votes, so I’m absolutely buzzing that we more than doubled that total.

This was my first election, and I’ve learnt a huge amount. I still live here and will continue doing what I can for our community. I hope to stand again in the future.

There are lots of people I’d love to thank by name, but I am so tired right now that I don’t want to forget anyone.

While there was a lot of difficult news for Labour nationally today, I’m proud that we did far better locally than many expected.

And finally, congratulations to Martin Smith (who isn’t my dad!) on his re-election.

*Prediction based on Poll Check and Britain Predicts estimates of 5.5% and 10% respectively, using the 6,404 votes cast in our ward in 2024.
